1 | Binance integrates ChatGPT into the Web3 academy
The artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT took the world by storm after its latest release in late November 2022. While initial reactions included much opposition to the technology, the technology continues to witness growing implementations. Cryptocurrency exchange and blockchain developer Binance announced that it is integrating ChatGPT into its education platform Binance Academy. In a blog post on April 24, the company introduced its new AI-driven tool which it calls the “Binance Sensei.”

2 | 1inch to Launch on Ethereum Rollup zkSync Era
1inch, the decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator, is launching a version of its platform onto zkSync Era, the recently released Ethereum scaling network from Matter Labs. ZkSync Era, which launched in March 2023, uses zero-knowledge cryptography to allow people to transact on Ethereum with higher speeds and lower fees. Era exists within a fast-growing category of Ethereum scaling chains, called zkEVMs, which say they will be able to support any app that’s currently based on Ethereum. By porting its protocol to zkSync Era, 1inch becomes one of the biggest-name crypto apps thus far to launch onto a zkEVM, or zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine.
3 | Sui to Launch Mainnet on May 3rd
The Sui Network has garnered significant attention from the larger cryptocurrency industry, despite it still being in its developmental stage. The reason for this is the protocol’s innovative approach to decentralized finance (DeFi), which has the community jostling to get their hands on the SUI token. Mysten Labs back the Sui Network. Mysten Labs is a Web 3.0 infrastructure organization that was founded by former senior executives at Meta’s Novi Research. The company also consists of experts in cryptography, distributed systems, and programming languages.

4 | EU Parliament Approves Crypto Licensing, Funds Transfer Rules
On Thursday, lawmakers in the European Union voted 517-38 in favor of a new crypto licensing regime, Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA), with 18 abstentions, making it the first major jurisdiction in the world to introduce a comprehensive crypto law. The European Parliament also voted 529-29 in favor of a separate law known as the Transfer of Funds regulation, which requires crypto operators to identify their customers in a bid to halt money laundering, with 14 abstentions. The vote follows a Wednesday debate in which lawmakers largely supported plans to make crypto wallet providers and exchanges seek a license to operate across the bloc, and require issuers of stablecoins tied to the value of other assets to maintain sufficient reserves.
5 | a16z to Launch Magi, an Optimism-based Rollup Client
a16z announced it will launch an OP Stack rollup client called Magi. Written in Rust, Magi aims to offer an alternative to op-node, the existing rollup client. Magi will act as the consensus client (often called a rollup client in the context of the OP Stack) to feed new blocks to the execution client in order to advance the chain. It will support any OP Stack chains, including Optimism and Base. op-node is the only existing rollup client now, which is written in Go and maintained by OP Labs. a16z wants to use Rust-based Magi to improve the client diversity, as well as to attract more developers..

6 | Romania plugs into Web3 with national NFT marketplace
Romania’s National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI Bucharest) aims to drive Web3 adoption in the country with the launch of an in-house nonfungible token trading platform. The institutional NFT platform, dubbed ICI D|Services, will go live on April 26 and aims to create a link between private and public sector institutions and users. The platform is primarily an NFT marketplace, allowing public and institutional users to mint, manage and trade NFTs. Cointelegraph spoke to ICI Bucharest blockchain laboratory coordinator Dr. Paul Niculescu-Mizil Gheorghe to unpack the impetus behind the country’s efforts to adopt Web3-powered technologies.

7 | Maple Finance Opens U.S. Treasury Bill Pool for Cash Management
Blockchain-based lending protocol Maple Finance has started onboarding investors to its new cash management pool that invests in one-month U.S. Treasury bills (T-bill), the protocol announced in a blog post Wednesday. The facility offers investors the one-month T-bill yield less the 0.5% management fee on stablecoin deposits, the protocol said. Currently, the one-month T-bill rate is at around 3.7%, meaning that the investment would offer a 3.2% annual yield. Maple’s new offering comes as crypto investors have become increasingly keen to earn yields by investing in traditional financial (TradFi) assets. Stablecoins generally do not offer users yield, while crypto lending may come with outsized risks, as last year’s defaults and insolvencies among digital asset firms proved.
